SUMMER RELAX AT LAKE L.A. LACKOVCE, MOMENTS´ 2026

This post contains very special moments during early summer at lake called L. A. Lackovce area.

Are you drawn to the idea of swimming in clean, chemical-free water amidst a beautiful natural setting, gazing at blooming water lilies? You can experience exactly that at our natural swimming pool.

The pool itself, covering an area of approximately 1,000 m², is divided by a wooden footbridge into sections for children and adults. The water depth ranges from 0 to 60 cm in the children’s area and from one to two meters in the adult section.

The pool’s gently sloping bottom provides ample space for both swimmers and non-swimmers. The enclosed pool area also features a relaxation zone right by the water, where you can rent a wooden sunbed for the entire day.

Lake L.A. is a private outdoor sports and recreation complex located just beyond the village of Lackovce, right next to the Cirocha River and only 3 km from the center of Humenné. The site’s main features are a natural swimming pool and a stocked lake, which together create an ideal setting for swimming, relaxation, and active leisure.

The natural swimming pool—measuring approximately 60 × 35 meters and featuring two depth zones—is open to both children and adults during the summer season. Adjacent to it lies a lake covering about 1.5 hectares (approx. 180 × 85 meters, with an average depth of nearly 2 meters), catering to both anglers and non-anglers. Species awaiting the angler’s line include carp, catfish, pike, silver carp, grass carp, zander, crucian carp, chub, and perch—with some truly trophy-sized specimens among them.

SUMMER RELAX AT VINIANSKE JAZERO, MOMENTS´ 2026

This post contains very special moments during my staying at lake called “Vinianské Jazero”.

Vinianske Lake is a body of water located in the southern part of the Vihorlat Mountains.

Location
It is situated approximately 2 km northeast of the village of Vinné, nestled between the peaks of Šutová (319.3 m a.s.l.), Marečková (401.6 m a.s.l.), Bogdanka (275.8 m a.s.l.), and Senderov (309.7 m a.s.l.). The water surface covers 8 hectares, and the lake reaches a maximum depth of 3.8 meters. It is a popular tourist destination featuring numerous holiday cottages and offering opportunities for swimming, boating, hiking, and ice skating in winter. The lake is accessible via a road from the village of Vinné that circles the entire lake, as well as by hiking trails. Dining and accommodation services are available to visitors.

Nearby lies the starting point of a hiking trail—marked with yellow blazes—that leads to the popular Vinné Castle (325.3 m a.s.l.).

The inhabitants of Vinné referred to this area as Blaco (Little Marsh). A map from 1789—Mappa Totius Terreni Possionum Vinna cum Banka (Map of the entire territory of the Vinna and Banka estates)—depicts the area as a meadow. Written sources from 1823 mention it as Blato slatinné (fenny marsh), indicating the presence of barren, swampy soil unsuitable for agriculture. Consequently, in the late 19th century, the Sztáray family had a fishpond constructed here by damming a natural depression and diverting water from the Vinnian Stream (Viniansky potok). In 1882, the Hungarian botanist Sándor Dietz referred to it as a newly built fishpond. In 1932, the Czech geographer and cartographer Karel Kuchař mistakenly classified the pond as a “natural relict lake formed by a barrier,” erroneously naming it “Lake Vinná” (Jazero Vinná) instead of “Vinná Fishpond” (Rybník Vinná). This name persists today in the form Vinianske jazero (Vinné Lake). Historian Martin Molnár hypothesizes that the now-vanished village of Blatá (Blaccza) was also located here.

HIKING ON GRÓFŇA, AUTOKEMP TÍŠAVA, DOMAŠA, RELAX AND NATURE MOMENTS´2026

This post contains very special moments during my early summer hiking on Grófňa, in area of Domaša.

The Grófňa viewpoint is situated above the Domaša reservoir at an elevation of 375 meters above sea level. It offers views of the northeastern side of the Veľká Domaša reservoir.

It is a lovely vantage point, providing views not only of the Domaša reservoir but also of the slopes of the Ondava and Laborec Highlands and the Vihorlat mountain range. In the past, the site was used as arable land; today, the surrounding area is covered by a dense, mature forest. The meadow near Grófňa offers a place to relax—whether lying down or running around with a four-legged friend—as well as a spot for children’s games or a picnic.

For hikers: The route begins at the Domaša reservoir, in the Dobrá recreation area, at the parking lot near the end of Dobrianska Bay. The trail follows the red hiking markers along the main road towards Detrík and Hanušovce nad Topľou. Although this initial asphalt section is not particularly exciting, the path is pleasant thanks to the surrounding trees. At the start, there is a view of an area inhabited by beavers. After about two kilometers, the route turns right into the forest, following a logging road through the valley. After a strenuous climb, the path reaches the edge of the forest. Here, a view opens up to the south, revealing the beech-covered massif of the Ondavská Highlands. The trail continues, and after a few meters, it emerges onto a mountain meadow along the ridge. Less than 300 to 400 meters from the forest lies the hike’s highest point—the Grófňa viewpoint.

NATIONAL PARK POLONINY, HIKING ON GAZDORÁŇ, RELAX AND NATURE MOMENTS´2026

This post contains very special moments during my early summer hiking on area called Gazdoráň.

Gazdoráň is a nature reserve managed by the State Nature Conservancy within Poloniny National Park.

It is located within the cadastral territory of the municipality of Stakčín, in the Snina District of the Prešov Region. The site was designated in 1993, covering an area of 17.30 hectares. No buffer zone was established. The reserve is subject to the fourth level of nature protection. The protected area is part of Poloniny National Park.

The subject of protection consists of xerothermic meadow communities situated on the flysch Cergov layers of the Bukovské Hills; these are rare plant communities. The area is home to the critically endangered purple hellebore (Helleborus purpurascens) and the highly endangered dark-winged orchid (Orchis ustulata). It also serves as a landscape landmark overlooking the Starina water reservoir.

The route is exceptional from geomorphological, botanical, and hydrological perspectives. It is a moderately challenging route approximately 7 km long, which an average hiker can complete in about 2–3 hours. The route follows existing service roads (forest and field tracks) within the cadastral areas of Starina nad Cirochou, Dara, and Príslop; consequently, creating the trail will not require extensive earthworks, but only minor clearing—specifically, the removal of branches and vegetation obstructing the path.

Trail marking will be carried out in accordance with the STN 01 8025 standard, using striped markers and arrows. The specific marker colors will be determined in consultation with the Club of Slovak Tourists. Direction signs featuring the striped marker symbol will be placed at the start and end of the route, while marker posts will be installed along the route itself. Supplementary signs and specialized information boards will also be mounted on these marker posts.

NATIONAL PARK POLONINY, HIKING IN UDAVA AREA, RELAX AND NATURE MOMENTS´2026

This post contains very special mooments during my spring hiking in National Park called Poloniny, espcially in area of Udava.

The International Forestry Trail begins at a site known as Uhliská and follows the old “Innkeeper’s Path” up to the Beskydy ridge, reaching the state border with the Republic of Poland. It provides access to a section of the Udava Nature Reserve, an exceptionally valuable forest area featuring the natural occurrence of fir trees. Information panels—presented in Slovak, Polish, and English—offer details on the area’s natural features as well as interesting historical facts about the region; the first of these panels is located in the center of the village of Osadné (approximately 6 km from the trail’s entrance).

Udava Nature Reserve. A protected area situated in the headwaters of the Udava River within the Bukovské vrchy Mountains, northeast of the village of Osadné; it was established in 1982 (and significantly expanded in 2005) to safeguard natural processes and the undisturbed development of plant and animal communities and forest stands. It is considered one of the most valuable parts of Poloniny National Park—part of the East Carpathians International Biosphere Reserve. In 2007, due to the exceptional value of its well-preserved beech and fir-beech forest communities, the area was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List as part of the “Primeval Beech Forests of the Carpathians” serial site—later expanded into a network of 82 sites across 12 European countries under the collective title “Ancient and Primeval Beech Forests of the Carpathians and Other Regions of Europe” (2018). The reserve is home to rare flora (such as the Siberian iris and marsh gentian) and fauna (including unique populations of eagles, owls, and large carnivores such as the wolf, lynx, bear, and wildcat). A few years ago, the European bison—a former inhabitant of the area—also returned. The reserve forms part of the larger Bukovské vrchy Site of Community Importance and the Special Protection Area of the same name (both are part of the Natura 2000 network).

The Bieszczady Narrow-Gauge Railway (Polish: Bieszczadzka Kolejka Leśna) is a narrow-gauge forest railway in the Western Bieszczady Mountains and the highest-altitude railway of its kind in Poland. Its first section, running from Nowy Łupków to Cisna-Majdan, was built between 1890 and 1898, with additional sections added gradually. It served to transport timber and goods, as well as passengers. During the era of the First Czechoslovak Republic (1918–1938), a short section of the line between Balnica and Solinka lay within Czechoslovak territory; the situation subsequently changed several times until the 1970s. During World War II, the original track gauge of 760 mm was converted to 750 mm. The line began to decline in the 1960s with the construction of asphalt forest roads, though it remained in use in some areas until 1994. Since 1997, it has been a popular seasonal tourist attraction, operating in the summer and during holiday periods, including winter. Trains run on two routes (totaling approximately 20 km) from Majdan to Balnica and Przysłup. The Majdan station houses a railway museum and an open-air railway heritage exhibit. The Slovak section of the international Udava–Solinka forestry educational trail leads to the settlement of Balnica—situated on the watershed of the Osława and Solinka rivers and founded in the 16th century under Vlach law—from the village of Osadné in the Udava Valley via a nearby Slovak-Polish cross-border hiking crossing; this section connects to two other, mutually unconnected Polish sections: one leading from Balnica through the Balniczka Valley and the other located in the vicinity of the Solinka River.

1. SVATÉ PRIJÍMANIE LILIANKY, FAMILY CELEBRATIONS´ 2026

This post contains very special family event called “Prvé Svaté Prijímanie” of my 9 years old niece called “Lilianka”.

Holy Communion is the term used by the Catholic and Orthodox Churches to refer to the consecrated bread and wine that Christians receive during the celebration of the Eucharist. The term originates from the Latin communio or the Greek koinonia (which can be loosely translated as “sharing in fellowship” or the like). According to the New Testament, Jesus instituted the sharing of bread and wine and commanded his followers to perform this act as the heart of worship whenever the community gathered. (See Luke 22:19 and 1 Corinthians 11:23–26.) In celebrating this “sharing in fellowship,” Christians commemorate Jesus’s death, receive God’s grace through communion with Him and with one another, and look forward to the time of His return.

The Christian celebration of “sharing in fellowship” is linked to “Holy Communion,” which most Christians understand as a sacrament. Holy Communion reenacts the Last Supper (Matthew 26:17–30, Mark 14:12–26, Luke 22:7–39, and John 13:1–17:26); across various Christian churches and denominations, this observance has taken on diverse liturgical forms and names—such as the celebration of the Eucharist, Holy Mass, the Divine Liturgy, the Lord’s Supper, the Breaking of Bread, and so forth. The act of receiving—specifically the partaking of bread (leavened or unleavened) and wine (or a grape juice product)—is an integral part of the celebration. Consequently, within this unified context, one may speak interchangeably of the “celebration” and the “communion” (or “receiving”). This fundamental understanding of Holy Communion is shared by the vast majority of Christians.

VLKOLÍNEC, RELAX AND HISTORY MOMENTS´2026

This post contains very special moments during my visiting small village called “Vlkolínec”.

Vlkolínec is a mountain-foot settlement and a district of the town of Ružomberok in the Žilina Region. It is a heritage reserve of folk architecture; as a remarkably well-preserved settlement—comprising typical log structures characteristic of Central Europe—it has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1993.

The settlement represents a type of medieval village featuring the wooden architecture typical of mountain and foothill regions; it consists of an undisturbed cluster of log houses set amidst a landscape of narrow strips of fields and pastures, sheltered to the north by the Sidorovo massif (1,099 m a.s.l.).

According to available records, Vlkolínec—originally a settlement of lumberjacks and charcoal burners—is believed to have been established between the second half of the 14th century and the first half of the 15th century. As a settlement within the territory of the town of Ružomberok, it was part of the Likava Castle estate. This arrangement persisted until the mid-20th century.

The settlement was represented in the municipal government by two elected officials known as “elders” (starší), and later as boženíci and senators.

In the 1950s, following World War II, plans were made to relocate the local inhabitants to Ružomberok. This was driven by the residents’ desire for living conditions comparable to those in other parts of the town. However, the project never materialized; consequently, visitors to Vlkolínec can still admire a vibrant rural community set amidst well-preserved, traditional log architecture.

Vlkolínec is a typical example of a clustered wooden settlement built on a hillside, featuring long farmyards. Its built-up area today comprises forty-five homesteads—consisting of wooden houses and outbuildings—situated on a steep slope. A stream originating beneath the slopes of Mount Sidorovo flows through the center of the village. Amidst the traditional architecture, the village center features a bell tower, a well, a masonry church, and a school. The well and bell tower were constructed using traditional techniques and roofed with shingles, just like all the original roofs of the houses and outbuildings. The village has preserved its unique character thanks to its isolation, which spared it from the rapid construction booms of the 19th and 20th centuries. Until the mid-20th century, the settlement was accessible only via dirt tracks and lacked electricity. Within the Carpathian region, Vlkolínec has been recognized as the best-preserved representative of its kind, complemented by the surrounding scenery of the Greater Fatra Mountains.
