This post contains very special moments during my hiking in the High Tatras, I also visited alpine chalets as well.

Popradské pleso (once called Rybie pleso) is a mountain lake of glacial origin located in the High Tatras, Slovakia. It is situated right on the Tatranská magistrála hiking path, at an altitude of 1,494 metres (4,902 ft).

It is located in the Mengusovska Valley, surrounded by the Tatra peaks of Ostrva, Tupá and the opposite ridge with peaks such as Satan, Malá Bašta and Patria.

Popradské pleso has the great advantage that it is easily accessible by asphalt road. In summer, you can go on foot or on a bike with your whole family. Even mothers with baby buggies won’t have a problem to get there.

A walk around Popradské pleso is unpretentious, very relaxing and is a real balm for the soul and a wonderful fairy tale for your eyes.

The Popradský pleso bank is bordered by the characteristic Mountain Hotel and Majláth Cottage, where you can eat and relax in addition to accommodation, for example, before climbing the Rysy, Ostrva and other hills nearby.

A little further down, in Limb Grove, there is a Symbolic Cemetery. There are memorial plaques with the names of people who died in the High Tatras as well as in other world mountains.

Popradské pleso itself was created after the retreat of glaciers in the recent ice age. Thus, the water from the surrounding valleys and gables filled the valley. The water in the lake has a typical yellow-green colour.

Majláthova chata is situated at the shore of the tarn Popradské pleso, in the lower part of the valley Mengusovská dolina. They started to build the chalet in 2006 in the neighborhood of the chalet Chata pri Popradskom plese. It was built in a place where the refreshment stalls stood in recent years and where the original Majláthova chata stood. The new building was approved in December 2010 and was put into full operation on March 26th 2011. On the ground floor there is a self-service dining room for 42 diners, more seats are on the open terrace. In the guest rooms upstairs there are nine beds with extra beds.

Hrebienok (1,285m) is a very popular tourist destination in the High Tatras. The oldest tourist centre Starý Smokovec is a significant crossing station of the town of Vysoké Tatry. From the settlement of Starý Smokovec one can easily get to Hrebienok – a starting point for several tourist trails. Take a funicular from Starý Smokovec to the altitude of 1,272 m and enjoy the same feeling as Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. could when she visited the High Tatras. It takes 7 minutes only to surmount a vertical drop of 255 m. Hrebienok is a popular starting point for hiking trips to valleys of Veľká and Malá Studená dolina or to Slavkovský štít (peak). Recharge your batteries after a strenuous hiking trip at the Snack bar of Hrebienok. It is located inside the building of the upper funicular station. It is an ideal place for family meetings, just a stone´s throw to embark or disembark the funicular.

Zamkovského chata is located in the High Tatras in Malá Studená dolina at an altitude of 1475 m. It takes about an hour to walk from Hrebienok along the red trail in the direction of Skalnaté Pleso. The trail to the chalet is undemanding, open all year round, that’s why this tour is especially popular with families with children. Along the way you will be enchanted by Obrovský vodopád (“Huge Waterfall”) and beautiful views of the Tatra basin and by the time you know it, you reached your destination. Zamkovského chata offers not only snacks, but also accommodation. Every minute of the year and in every situation, there is a staff at the chalet ready to provide you with the necessary refuge and assistance. Zamkovského chata has 23 beds and 2 extra beds. The chalet offers 3 quadruple rooms, 1 five-bedroom and 3 double rooms. The rooms have bunk beds. Toilets and showers with hot water are in the hallway. In case of bad weather, it is also possible to spend the night in the sleeping bag in the attic.

Rainerova chata is the oldest chalet in the High Tatras. It was built in 1863 by Ján Juraj Rainer. It disappeared after a chalet Kamzík was built in 1884. It was restored in 1998. One can access the chalet year-round. The chalet offers refreshment without serving meals or accommodation. There is also a small exhibition of the history and present of mountain sherpas (the sherpas carry supplies to the chalets and Slovakia is the last country in Europe, where the chalets are supplied this way), a collection of old climbing tools and old skis. Peter Petras, the current chalet keeper, arranges events for big and small on a yearly basis. One of his creations is to build Bethlehem, as soon as he collects enough snow for it.

Bilíkova chata: This mountain chalet in a beautiful alpine environment of the High Tatras at 1255 m altitude, enables an early start to hiking and climbing trips. It’s located just below Hrebienok on the southeastern slope of Slavkovský štít. The cable car station is 300 meters away. The chalet is open all year round and offers double rooms or a small and large attic apartment. The chalet has a restaurant, outdoor terrace and also a sauna. It is accessible by the green mark from Hrebienok. A less frequented hiking trail from Tatranská Lesná cca 1,5h also leads to the chalet.

Štrbské Pleso is a ski, tourist, and health resort in the High Tatras, Slovakia located on the lake by the same name. With extensive parking facilities and a stop on the Tatra trolley and rack railway, it is a starting point for a host of popular hikes including to Kriváň and Rysy.

The future resort began to emerge in 1872 when Jozef Szentiványi [sk] (“of St. John”. 1817–1906, from a noble family with roots in the nearby village of Liptovský Ján, originally: Sv. Ján, “St. John”) built a hunting lodge on the banks of Štrbské pleso. Access to the High Tatras was made easier the year before when the railroad reached Poprad in their foothills. Szentiványi rented the lot from the village of Štrba whose municipal lands included the lake and which gave its name to it. He opened it to tourists a year later and allowed the Carpathian Union, a hiking society, to build its own Chalet Joseph nearby in 1875. The accommodation facilities that Szentiványi kept adding made it a popular destination. The rack railway connecting it to the main railroad was built in 1896. The first ski school was organized in 1899. The Tatra trolley linked it with other resorts on the Slovak side of the Tatras in 1912.[4] The resort was acquired by the government in 1901.

The adjacent area of Nové Štrbské Pleso began to develop in 1897 when the land was purchased by the architect Karol Móry of Banská Bystrica. He dammed the Mlynica Brook in 1900 to flood a minor marsh, create the small “New Lake of Štrba”, and enhance the charm of his property.

A treaty of alliance between the governments of Romania, Yugoslavia and Czechoslovakia was signed in Štrbské Pleso on 27 June 1930, that created a regular consultative structure for the Little Entente and registered in League of Nations Treaty Series on 3 October 1930.

Štrbské Pleso was considerably modernized in the 1970s, including the construction of several hotels, ski jumps etc. Another big reconstruction of almost all the hotels and sport areas took place in years 2007-2014 before the 2015 Winter Universiade.

The footpath is a unique example of the accessibility of natural attractions and nooks and crannies located in the fifth, highest level of protection. It passes through the territory of the Poloniny National Park – the UDAVA Nature Reserve, which was declared a world natural heritage in 2007 within the beech forests of the Carpathians. The forestry educational trail starts at a place called Uhliská, continues along the old “innkeeper’s trail” to the Beskydy ridge, to the state border with the Republic of Poland. It makes accessible a part of the Udava Nature Reserve, which represents an extremely valuable forest area with a natural occurrence of fir. 10 information panels in the Slovak-Polish-English mutation, the first of which is located in the center of the village of Osadné (about 6 km away from the entrance gate of the MLNCH) offers, in addition to information about the natural features of the area, interesting facts from the history of this environment.

Osadné: The Ruthenian village on the upper reaches of the Udava under the main ridge of the Bukov mountains about 20 km north of Snina. Under the local Orthodox Church of the Ascension of God from 1933, there is a crypt with the remains of more than 1,000 Russian and Austro-Hungarian soldiers from the First World War, who fell in the vicinity of the village. Other attractions include the Greek Catholic church from 1792 and an almost 4 m high wooden statue of a standing bear, the symbol of the Ruthenians. The statue carries boards, informing in four languages ​​about the cultural and natural attractions of the village and its surroundings. It was created in 2008 as a memorial to the filming of the documentary film “Osadné” directed by Marek Škop. Its author is the sculptor Ľubo Birka from Snina.

Bieszczady narrow gauge railway: The forest railway on the Polish side was built from Nowe Lupków to Cisna-Majdan in the years 1890-1898 at the initiative of Herman Jan baron Tschecz de Lindewald, the Austrian mayor of Przemysl. Its main mission was to collect wood and transport goods, but it also operated passenger transport. The original track gauge of 760 mm was rebuilt to 750 mm during the Second World War. Currently, the track is a sought-after seasonal tourist attraction, both in summer and exceptionally in winter. The educational trail leads to its Balnica station, where it passes from the Udavy basin to the Solinka basin.

Nature reserve Udava: Protected territory in the spring area of ​​the Udava in the Bukovské vrchy northeast of Osadné, originally declared on an area of ​​52.09 ha in 1982 and expanded to 391.98 ha in 2005 to ensure the protection of natural processes and the unrestricted development of plant and animal communities and forest stands. It is considered one of the most valuable parts of the Poloniny National Park – Eastern Carpathian International Biosphere Reserve. In 2007, due to the exceptional value of the preserved beech and fir-beech forest communities, its territory became part of the UNESCO World Natural Heritage as part of the Carpathian beech forests site, later transformed into 82 areas of the system with the common name “Old beech forests and beech forests of the Carpathians and other regions of Europe” located in 12 European countries (2018). They contain rare flora (Siberian iris, lung heather), but also fauna (a unique occurrence of eagles, owls and beasts: wolf, lynx, bear, wild cat). A few years ago, its former inhabitants – the bison – returned to it. The territory of the reserve lies in the territory of the Poloniny National Park of European importance as well as the protected bird area Bukovske vrchy (both are part of the Natura 2000 system).

The advantageous location was the reason why our ancestors settled here. The first traces of settlement are from the Early Stone Age. The finds testify to the movement of prehistoric hunters and gatherers. Later finds indicate a trade route to the east. Dlhé nad Cirochou is one of the oldest villages in the region, as the geographical location and relatively high-quality soil suited the first settlers of this area. Due to its location and especially its name, the village belongs to the 13th century. However, this does not exclude the possibility that the population could not have settled here earlier.

The oldest written mention of the village is from 1333 and the village is mentioned in it under the name Longo Campo (Long Field). The mention comes from the papal collectors’ large register of tithes paid. This record testifies to the existence of the parish, which included the entire valley of the Cirochy river. The parish priest Ján Spavelko writes about the fact that the parish of Dlhé already existed in 1333. He refers to the documents of the diocesan archive in Jágr. Later written records of the village refer to the estate of the extended Drugeth family. A reference from 1451 speaks of an unrealized family division between the Druheth family. From 1322 to the end of the 17th century, the village belonged to the Drugeth family, from 1774 to the Szirma family, who also built a residence here in the 18th century – a mansion, built in the French Baroque style.

There is a mill from the end of the 18th century in the village, which still stands here after several modifications. In the village there is a mansion from the 18th century, which was built by the Szirmay family. Currently, half of the mansion is inhabited. Another mansion is located in a part of the forest called “Tristci”, from 1843, served for the estate, which gathered in it for hunting. After it was sold, it and the adjacent forests and meadows were bought by the factory owner Zdenek Kostelník. Later it was modified as a recreation center. As part of the restitution settlement, it was returned to the original owner, who before his death in 2005 sold it to f. Waldgut Snina s.r.o.

There is a library in the village, located in the kindergarten building. There is a church in the village, once dedicated to the veneration of the Most Holy Body of Christ. There are three bells in the tower. The church is a protected cultural monument. Currently, it serves as a house of hope. Another church in the village is dedicated to Saint Joachim and Saint Anne. It was built in 1993 and consecrated by Card. Jozef Tomko from Rome. The new church is integrated into the space in such a way that it does not compete with the position of the old church, whose high tower is a local and landscape dominant.

Dupna is an amateur village folkloric singing-taming group, especially focused on common language areas and preserving the customs of the village.

Awards of this village: Diploma for a male singing group for good selection and performance, Diploma – Revival of traditional folk culture, Diploma for the stage band “Večarki”.

SPORT: Their football club FK Jasenov has a separate website that provides current information about the performance of our football sections – men, youth and pupils.

Koloman Magyary, known under the stage name Kali (* December 29, 1982, Bratislava), is a Slovak rapper from Petržalka who has been active on the hip-hop scene since 2008. In 2018 and 2019, he received the OTO award in the singer category.

He released his debut album, Pod maskou je pravda, in 2010. Another album, Načo čačat, was also released in 2010. In 2011, he continued with the album Ale Ne. Due to financial problems, this album was supposed to be the last, but Don Čičo helped Kali in this situation, which was reflected in 2013, when he released the diss, Skola repu, on which the rapper Momo was a guest. However, in 2017, according to Kali, he and Momo are good friends. In the end, he gave up on ending his career. In 2018, he released the album Dovi Dopo, which was originally not supposed to be released. Currently, he continues to rap.

This post contains very special moments during my staying at lake called L.A.

Private sports and recreation complex Jazero L.A. is located in a natural environment in the outskirts of the village of Lackovce, in close proximity to the Cirocha river, only 3 km from the center of Humenné. The highlight of the area is the newly built bio-swimming pool with dimensions of 60m x 35m with two deep zones, separated by a jetty, for children and adults. The adjacent external biofilter of approximately 700 m2 is used for water filtration and purification and effectively emphasizes the natural character of the entire area. The area offers visitors not only the possibility of swimming, but mainly of relaxation, sports or grilling.

The over 4 hectare area is dominated by a vast lake used mainly by fishermen and sports recreation. You will also find wooden gazebos with grills, a beach volleyball court and children’s playgrounds. The remaining adjacent high-quality grassed area is intended for relaxation, sunbathing and sports such as football, golf, Frisbee and flying kites.

A garden restaurant, a grill, tap stands with different types of beers, a kitchen and a newly built minibar with a selection of mixed drinks will hopefully satisfy even the most demanding visitors. Restrooms, showers and guarded parking inside the complex are also available free of charge.

This post contains very special moments during my staying at Sarospatak, thermal pools in Hungary.

Great relaxing place with thermal pools from 28-36C. 7 different pools – Small for children, with water slides until big swimming pool. Good area for people in any age. Place with good food and beverage facilities, the area adapted to rest in the fresh air on the lawn with quiet music coming from speakers across the entire area. Definitely I can recommend anyone for chill out weekend.

Nice bath with many outdoor pools with warm water in the range 26-36 C. In the main season it is crowded here but for the children is fine – there are many facilities for the children like slides (paid), playgrounds in and so on. For the swimmer there is only one 25m lenght pool with warm water usually it is crowded. There are many restaurants with fast food you can pay by cash – domestic money or with a credit card.
