This post contains very special pictures during my walk at area of Sninske Rybniky, and special selfie.
Sninské rybníky is a recreational area in the Horný Zemplín region, on the outskirts of the town of Snina, approximately 3 km from its center in the valley of the Bystrá stream.
The Sninské rybníky recreation area is surrounded by the Vihorlatské vrchy with cycle paths and hiking trails. It is the starting point of the hiking trail, marked with a blue tourist sign to the popular Sninský kamen (1,006.0 m above sea level), from where it is possible to continue to the largest gardened volcanic lake in Slovakia – Morské oku. These natural creations are part of the territory of the Vihorlatsky Forest, Vihorlat, which in 2007 was included in the UNESCO World Natural Heritage list in the category of Primeval Beech Forests of the Carpathians and the Ancient Beech Forests of Germany. The reason was the well-preserved beech forests with over 240-year-old specimens.
Bio swimming pool Sninské rybníky
In the recreational area there is a natural swimming pool (see: Bio-swimming Sninské rybníky), which was rebuilt in 2010 from the original three natural swimming pools. It is the second bio swimming pool in Slovakia, using the technology of self-purification of water with the help of plants and algae. It was awarded the BEST tourism product of the Prešov region for 2014. Its area consists of a swimming pool with three depth zones – an area for small children (depth 0.05 m – 0.4 m), a section for non-swimmers (depth 1.1 m – 1 .5 m) and the swimming part (depth 2.0 m – 3.5 m), which is separated from the non-swimming part by a jetty, from the grassy areas for relaxation and from the pool itself, which serves for filtering and cleaning the water. The filling of the biotope is watered from the natural source of the Bystrá watercourse. Sports fields and children’s playgrounds serve visitors for recreation.
Next to the swimming pool is the Autocamping Snina campsite, which is the easternmost campsite in Slovakia. It is a seasonal facility, visited by tourists every year from 5/15 to 9/30. It offers accommodation in cabins, camping and camping on a grassy area. In the summer months, several well-known music festivals take place in the recreational area of the amphitheater, such as the Podvihorlat Folklore Festival, Farfest Snina or the most famous of them, Rock pod Kameňom – Snina Open Air Festival. Catering and accommodation services are provided in the recreation area.
