CHRISTMAS MARKETS IN KRAKOW, POLAND, CHRISTMAS MOMENTS´2023

This post contains very special data about my visiting Christmas Markets in Krakow, Poland.

KRAKOW CHRISTMAS MARKET 2023: POLAND’S #1 WINTER MARKET
Krakow Christmas Market is the most popular and best Christmas market in Poland. It’s located on Rynek Glowny, the 13th-century square in the centre of the old town. You can’t miss the stalls as they sit between the famous Cloth Hall and the imposing St Mary’s Basilica.

The Christmas market in Krakow is lined with timber huts where they prepare delicious grilled and smoked specialties and slow-cooked hearty soups and goulash. You can also find handcrafted toys and Christmas decorations to take home or give as gifts.

One of the most popular happenings in Krakow is the annual Christmas market at the main square (Rynek Glowny). This event normally opens in the end of November and remains open until December 26th. If you come to Krakow during this period, it is impossible to miss out on the Christmas market at the main square. But, it is also a fact that many people travel to Krakow in this period because of the Christmas market.

The famous Christmas market at the main square in Krakow is a fantastic event. Here you can eat and drink all sorts of local food and drinks. Besides this, you can enjoy programs from a stage at the square. You can watch folklore performances and listen to local Polish music from the area.

Would you like to buy someone a nice souvenir from Krakow? Or maybe you would like to buy some Christmas presents? You can, of course, do that at the Christmas market in Krakow. Do not forget that the square is fantastic, so you can easily enjoy the Christmas market, visit the restaurants at the square, walk through the Sukiennice (clothes hall), and then eat some Polish sausage and taste local vodka.

SNINSKÉ RYBNÍKY, WINTER WALK, NATURE MOMENTS´2023

This post contains very special moments during my winter walk at Areál Sninské Rybníky, natural swimming pool area with natural forest.

Sninské rybníky is a recreational area in the Horný Zemplín region, on the outskirts of the town of Snina, approximately 3 km from its center in the valley of the Bystrá stream.

The recreation area of Sninské rybníky is surrounded by the Vihorlatské vrchy with cycle routes and hiking trails. It is the starting point of the hiking trail, marked with a blue tourist sign to the popular Sninský kamen (1,006.0 m above sea level), from where it is possible to continue to the largest gardened volcanic lake in Slovakia – Morské oku. These natural creations are part of the territory of the Vihorlatsky Forest, Vihorlat, which in 2007 was included in the UNESCO World Natural Heritage list in the category of Primeval Beech Forests of the Carpathians and the Ancient Beech Forests of Germany. The reason was the well-preserved beech forests with over 240-year-old specimens.

In the recreational area there is a natural swimming pool which was rebuilt in 2010 from the original three natural swimming pools. It is the second bio swimming pool in Slovakia, using the technology of self-purification of water with the help of plants and algae. It was awarded the BEST tourism product of the Prešov Region in 2014. Its area consists of a swimming pool with three depth zones – an area for small children (depth 0.05 m – 0.4 m), a section for non-swimmers (depth 1.1 m – 1 .5 m) and the swimming part (depth 2.0 m – 3.5 m), which is separated from the non-swimming part by a pier, from the grassy areas for relaxation and from the pool itself, which serves for water filtration and purification. The filling of the biotope is watered from the natural source of the Bystrá watercourse. Sports fields and children’s playgrounds serve visitors for recreation.

POLONINY, SLOWAK NATIONAL PARK, NATURE MOMENTS´2023

This post contains very special nature moments through visiting slowak national park called Poloniny. I visited following villages protected by UNESCO, as follows: Runina, Ulic, Uličské Krivé, Zboj and Nová Sedlica. I have also tested national local food called Pierogy (Tatarčené pirohy) made by hand of people from Uličské Krivé.

Poloniny National Park is a national park in Slovakia on the border with Poland and Ukraine in the Poloniny Bukovské Hills. Bieszczadzki Park Narodowy in Poland and Uzhan National Park in Ukraine are adjacent to this area. The Poloniny National Park was declared on October 1, 1997 on an area of 298.05 km² with a protection zone of 109.73 km².

The name Poloniny comes from the unique mountain ridge meadows located above the forest level, in these parts called poloniny.

In 1993, Poloniny National Park was included in the network of international biosphere reserves by UNESCO. In June 2007, the Stužica, Havešová and Rožok primeval forests in the Bukovské vrchy, along with the Vihorlatský primeval forest in the Vihorlatské vrchy in the PLA Vihorlat and primeval forests in Ukraine were added to the UNESCO World Natural Heritage List.

Poloniny, 80 percent of the park is made up of forests where beech stands prevail. Among them are primeval forests, the largest concentration of which is precisely in the Poloniny National Park. A significant percentage of the park area is occupied by meadows on the main ridge of the Bukov Hills, called poloniny. Many species of organisms living in the park are endemic. There are more than 800 species of moss and 100 species of lichens in Poloniny. The vegetation is characterized by the presence of Eastern Carpathian species. On the meadows, the sulfur yellow elder, the Dacian violet, the Herbich’s chervil, the pink hornwort grow, in the forests the Carpathian fireweed, the purple hellebore, the smooth pea and many other plants. There are 5,981 known species of invertebrates and 294 species of vertebrates in the national park. All kinds of salamanders live here from amphibians, and from reptiles, even the largest snake, the tree snake. In 2004, a small herd of maned bison was brought here. In 2016, the bison herd numbered about 25 individuals, while individuals and herds from Poland also migrated to the territory of Slovakia.
